On November 24th, 2021 we will have our second general assembly. The assembly will be hosted by the MPI for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen and will take place in a hybrid format, meaning both virtual and in presence following the "2G rule". A preliminary schedule of the program will be shown in the details. In a nutshell, we are planning to have dinner together on Tuesday November 23rd. The general assembly on November 24th will start with discussion groups on topics relevant for the MPG facilities. After lunch, we will have scientific talks by Jan Huisken, Melina Schuh and Christian Dienemann, and the statutory part of the general assembly. You will find the Zoom details to join the public part in the details, for all further actions you need to register via the link, also shown in the details. We kindly ask you to register be October 31st. We are looking forward meeting you for the first time in person to be able to get to know each other, exchange knowledge and meet for enjoying the Max Planck BioImaging network! [more]

THREE partial scholarships for GerBi "Core Facility Leadership and Management Course"

One of the main goals of our community is to support facility personnel in improving scientific, technical, and managerial skills. As you may know, each year, the German BioImaging Society (GerBI) is organizing a Core Facility Leadership and Management Course. This year the course will be held online. The MaxBI steering committee recognizing the high quality of the GerBI course decided to provide THREE partial scholarships of the amount 700 € each, to support MaxBI members in attending the course. For more information, please check out the details. The Max Planck BioImaging Core Unit Network and ZEISS Microscopy are organizing a first joint virtual Workshop in order to exchange experiences, learn about actual and future needs of the Core Units and offerings & solutions by ZEISS. We cordially invite you to join and actively contribute in this workshop. Your inputs and opinions are highly valuable for the topics, that we have jointly decided for the agenda. The goal will be to create relevant benefits for the imaging community. Please confirm your participation by registration. Shortly before the event you will receive the Zoom link to the Virtual Workshop. We are looking forward to your participation. Ask the experts: STED microscopy

Ask the experts- Joint event of MaxBi and GerBi
Meet our experts for STED-microscopy and ask them everything you want to know about this super-resolution method. We are happy to have the experts Elisa D'Este(MPI for medical research) Janina Hanne (German BioImaging) and Sebastian Hänsch (CAi, HHU Düsseldorf) for this session. Ideally you send your questions already ahead of the event to help the experts to prepare for the answer. In the case you have an example image for your questions, please provide this as well. You will find the information how to drop the questions/images and the ZOOM information in the details. [more]

We hope you will join and enjoy our third "Facility Coffee Break" We are going to discuss about "Laser safety - how do you organize it and how do you deal with self-made systems?" and may be as well about some other topics of interest. This coffee break is open for all facility members in Max-Planck BioImaging. [more]

MaxBi Tutorials - High-throughput STED with adaptive feedback microscopy

In an adaptive feedback microscopy workflow, image analysis and image acquisition are intertwined. In this tutorial, we will first review some basic concepts and solutions provided by microscopy companies. We will then show, on a STEDYcon-Abberior/Nikon system, a workflow that uses fast and gentle wide-field imaging to recognize cells for super-resolution microscopy. By combining image analysis and different acquisition methods we can circumvent some of the inherent limitations of STED, i.e. speed and phototoxicity, and acquire data at high-throughput in a completely unsupervised way.
